The Excel Invoice Template

For the purpose of this article, however, and for the sake of brevity, let’s take a look at what should be included on a basic itemized invoice template:
• Invoice Number. The invoice number should always appear at the top of the invoice. This number is important, as it will help not only with record and bookkeeping, but will help you compare invoices should a customer decide to ask for a refund or exchange.
• Company Name. The name of your company, including the primary address where you conduct business, city, state, telephone number, email address and website should also appear towards the top of the invoice template.
• Customer Information. Any time you issue an invoice, the customer’s name and contact information should always be clearly printed on the invoice.
• Product Description and Unit Price. On the left side of the template the name of the product, including product number, and the number of units sold should be listed. On the same line, on the right side of the template, the price for each product should be displayed.
• Subtotal. The subtotal is the dollar amount owed before tax and other fees are applied.
• Tax and Fees. A good invoice template will usually calculate the tax owed and any other fees such as shipping and handling.
• Grand Total. The grand total is the total dollar amount owed by the customer.
